The Legacy and Future of R/C Racing in Utah

Pink Poppy Flowers

Honoring our Past...

For nearly 40 years, Intermountain RC Raceway has been a cornerstone of R/C racing in Utah. Many longtime racers still remember its early days, when a small but passionate group of drivers helped build the foundation of what would become one of the region’s most respected tracks. Over the decades the raceway evolved through different locations, owners, and generations of racers, but its purpose has always remained the same — bringing people together through competition, community, and a shared passion of R/C Racing.

The track became especially well known for its unique racing surface, including the famous dirt once called “The Greatest Dirt on Earth” by legendary racer Brian Kinwald. Most recently the facility operated as Eaton’s Intermountain RC Raceway, where the Eaton family guided the track into the modern era of R/C racing while continuing to support the community that has defined IRCR for nearly four decades.

Driving into the Future...

In March of 2026, a new chapter began for the raceway when local businessman and lifelong racer Gary Ellison stepped forward to lead the facility into its next era. With deep roots in both full-scale motorsports and R/C competition, Gary saw an opportunity not just to preserve a great track, but to invest in its future.

Under the Rocky Mountain RC Raceway name, the focus is on strengthening the racing experience, expanding opportunities for new drivers to enter the hobby, and creating a welcoming environment where racers of all ages and skill levels can compete, learn, and connect.

With renewed energy and a long-term commitment to the community, Rocky Mountain RC Raceway is focused on building a vibrant future for R/C racing in Utah—one that continues to grow the sport while honoring the passion that has fueled it for so long.
